ICON Consortium Showcases Integrated Sensing Innovations at ICTON 2026

The ICON consortium actively participated in the 26th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks (ICTON 2026), held in Prague. During the conference, ICON researchers presented pioneering work on Intent- and Context-Aware Optical Networks, demonstrating how existing optical communications infrastructure can be transformed into intelligent sensing platforms.

A key highlight of the event was the consortium’s active contribution to dedicated workshop sessions focusing on Integrated Communication and Sensing (ICAS). ICON partners delivered technical presentations and invited talks, sharing recent findings on sensing interrogation techniques, physical-layer modeling, and network automation frameworks.

The presentations and subsequent discussions fostered valuable technical exchanges with the wider photonics and networking community, reinforcing the project’s dissemination and clustering objectives under WP7.
