We are pleased to announce the publication of the first newsletter of the ICON project – Intent and Context‑Aware Optical Networks, a Horizon Europe initiative dedicated to redefining how optical fibre networks sense and interact with the world around them.
ICON is developing a new generation of optical communication networks with integrated sensing capabilities, transforming existing terrestrial and subsea fibre infrastructures into powerful platforms for environmental monitoring, infrastructure protection, and real‑time situational awareness.
