ICON PROJECT – KICK OFF MEETING AT TCD
The ICON Project (Intent-Based Optical Networks with Integrated Sensing) is a Horizon Europe initiative focused on building a new generation of intelligent optical networks that seamlessly integrate sensing functionalities into their architecture. ICON will transform Europe’s fibre infrastructure into a global-scale sensing platform, enabling applications across mobility, environmental monitoring, and infrastructure resilience.
The project officially launched with a successful kick-off meeting hosted by Trinity College Dublin, where consortium members gathered to set the foundation for this ambitious and innovative journey. A warm thank you to Dr. Aleksandra Kaszubowska and the Trinity team for their excellent organisation and welcoming spirit.
🔬 Co-funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme, ICON brings together academic, industrial, and research leaders from across Europe to deliver breakthroughs in smart, responsive communication networks.
